Press Release
Lamka, June 15, 2016
The Joint Action Committee Against Anti-Tribal Bills (JAC) held a meeting yesterday (June 14, 2016) with the families of the nine Tribal Martyrs at KKL Complex, Lamka to appraise them of the planned activities and further courses of action. It was a cordial meeting with lively participation from the families as well as members of the JAC, sharing ideas and deliberating o the possibility of sending a delegation from each family along with tribal village chiefs and innpi/tribe council leaders to Delhi to seek justice for the nine Martyrs and demonstrate the genuine sorrow and struggle of the tribal people of Manipur on the 300th day of the Manipur Tribal Movement.
The sitting resolved with unanimity to send either the mother or the father of each of the nine Tribal Martyrs to represent each of the Martyr families, and swiftly follow up with all necessary preparations for the said event.
For this, the Fund-Raising Cell of the JAC is entrusted with the responsibility of meeting the necessary financial requirements.
The JAC would like to further request every tribal individual in the tribal areas of Manipur to support and contribute for the cause as this endeavour would require stern commitment and robust financing.
The JAC would also like to take the opportunity to acknowledge and express its utmost gratitude, especially to the selfless efforts made by various like-minded individuals and groups that include Pu G. Thangkhosuanmung, Chief of Hiangtam Lamka and the Young Paite Association, Lamka Unit for their contribution in making all the necessary arrangements in the construction of the Sit-in Protest Site at Salpha Pumbuuk.
It is through such collective efforts that the Manipur Tribal Movement progresses, and continues to reinforce our genuine belief that with the Almighty on or side, we shall overcome some day.
