Today marks the 300th day of the Tribal Movement- a movement that began as a fight against the three anti-tribal bills passed by the Manipur Lagislative Assembly on August 31, 2015 but has, due to stark absence of any genuine desire by the communal Manipur Government for 300days to bring about any form of amicable solution,evolved into a fight for self-determination and survival for the people in Manipur.


Tribal people from Ukhrul, Chandel, Senapati, Sadar Hills and Tamenglong along with the public from Lamka gathered at the Young Paite Association General Headquaters hall, Hiangtam Lamka, Lamka which was packed beyond capacity to join their fellow tribals from across the globe in the Worldwide Mourning and Mass Prayer program. Several busloads of tribals people from across the Hill districts of Manipur have coverged at Lamka to take part in the program.

Tribals leaders from the following organization and tribal bodies outside Lamka also participated in the program: United Naga Council, Thadou Women Association, Naga Women Union, Chandel Naga Peoples' Organization, Anal Naga Union, Chiru Union, Chothe Tribe Union, Monsang Naga Tribe Union, Naga Students' Union Chandel District,Lamkang Naga Kver Kumpun, Marang Uparp Assembly, Machi Area Chief/Chairman Association, Khoibu Tribe Union, Moyon Tribe Union, tarao tribe Union, Naga Peoples' Movenment for Human rights, Zeliangrong Baudi, Zeliangrong Youth Front and Autonomous District Council Tamenglong.

The program began with the paying of homage to the nine Tribal Martyrs, following by keynote address from H. Mangchinkhup, chief Convenor, Joint Action Committee Against Anti-Tribal Bills ( JAC ) where he outlined the JAC's plans for the coming days.

The other speakers on the occasion included Joseph Lalrothang, President, Hmar Inpui, Lalrinliana, President, Mizo People Convention, Vahchin, President, Thadou Women Association, B. Dongzalian Simte, Chairman, Zomi Council and Gaidon Kamei, president, United Naga Council.

Rev. Dr. S. Lalpi Vaiphei, president, Tribal Churches Leaders' Forum Manipur and Chairman, Evengelical Organization Church ECCI, exhorted the gathering to rise up and always look towards the Lord as we continue in our struggle.

The program ended with a Mass Prayer session lead by Nianglian, Convenor, All Manipur tribal Women union wehre the gatheing prayed for the continued intervention and guidance of the Almighty in our struggle for self-determination and justice that has already crossed 300 days.

The program also witnessed the dedication of the Tribal Movement flag to be dispatched today itself to other Hill districts; the same shall be made available in Lamka shortly.

The JAC would like to express its sincere gratitude to the general public for their overwhelming response in the Mourning and Mass Prayer program, and would also like to thank the Young Paite Association General Headquaters for allowing free-usage of the hall for the 300 days program.
