Manipuri Mothers' pain and grief | By Tarun Vijay, MP

New Delhi, April 20: Tarun Vijay assured Manipur Mothers that Modi govt stands with the Northeast people and certainly their woes will be heard and responded to in a positive manner. They are like my own mothers, Tarun Vijay said

Its six months, their sons are dead and bodies kept in Imphal morgue, but they are refusing to bury them. Their tears have dried up, their pain is prolonged and they weep uncontrollably. They arrived Delhi first time in their life only to knock at the doors of the govt and seek an assurance that their sons, who they say are 'martyred" for the tribal cause will get justice.

The one MP who stood with them was Tarun Vijay, Rajya Sabha Member, BJP from Uttarakhand. He said that Modi govt stands with the Northeast people and certainly their woes will be heard and responded to in a positive manner.
It was an emotional moment when the nine mothers of the youth who were killed in a police shoot out at Imphal on 31st Aug 2015, met Mr Tarun Vijay, MP from Uttarakhand, to thank him for his support to their cause today at his residence. Having collected small currency notes, to fund their travel to Delhi, from Churachandpur ( Manipur) they were led by Mrs Nianglian. Other conveners of All Manipur Tribal Women Union were Mrs Byonzamawi, Mrs Ngaikhanvung, and Mrs Ningsial. Tarun Vijay is also President of Solidarity with the Youth of
Northeast (SYNE) , a civil platform to voice grievances of the Northeast people.

They said that while their own representatives failed to voice their woes and had not done anything to help them find a solution to their demands for which nine of their children had to die , an MP from Uttarakhand has taken up their issue in parliament and with the government.

Its noteworthy that Mr Tarun Vijay has been speaking for them in Rajya Sabha and has met Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh getting assurances to look into their demands.

The mothers, whose sons had been killed last year in a plice shootout, are demanding that govt must form a committee to ensure Manipur Govt's 'unacceptable' three bills are not passed and sixth schedule of the constitution, that has been applied on all NE states except Manipur is also made applicable in Manipur to protect their rights. They also demand that a high level enquiry committee is constituted to probe the killings of the nine youths and Naga peace talks are speeded up.

Shri Tarun Vijay said that he wants to support the mothers who have shown exemplary courage of conviction and faith and its too painful to see that while the bodies of their children are kept in the morgue, they are refusing to perform last rites till an assurance is given to them. They are our children, they do not support secessionists, neither are terrorists. All they want is a solution within the constitutional framework. Thats their democratic right and I do not want them to feel that they are alone of Delhi doesn't listens to Northeast. They are like my own mothers, Tarun Vijay said and assured too have their meeting with Home Minister tomorrow.
