Delegates from the Outer Manipur Tribal's Forum ( OMTF ) and the Joint Action Committee Against Anti-Tribal ( JAC ) met with the Hon'ble Governor of Manipur, Smt. Najma Heptulla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal today, The team apprised the Lady Governor of the plight of the tribal in Manipur that have been magnified with the passing of the three infamous anti-tribal bills by the Manipur Legislative Assembly last year. In the meeting that went on for more than an hour, the team detailed the political marginalization and development exclusion faced by the indigenous tribals in Manipur, and the need for a solution that is sustainable and acceptable to the tribals. The delegates also explained how, with neither the Union Government nor the state Government showing any genuine interest to address the issue, the mortal remains of the nine Tribal Martyrs are still awaiting an honorable burial.

The team submitted a memorandum to the Lady Governor mentioning that the tribal people will not accept any new bill or resolution unless appropriate and satisfactory steps taken towards the total nullification of the two pending anti-tribal bills, and unless the matter of the nine Tribals Martyrs are resolved to the satisfaction of the tribal people in Manipur. The representation also stressed that with the three anti-tribal bills being political in nature, only an acceptable political solution for the tribals will meet the need of the hour.
